DanielAjay Bijli is not only a Modern school Barakhamba Road, New Delhi alumnus but also of the Hindu College, Delhi University, and Harvard Business school. He is the chairman of Priya Village Roadshow Ltd (PVR Cinemas) and director of iPic Entertainment Inc. After completing his graduation, Ajay joined his father’s business of theatre and transportation. In 1995, their transportation company faced a huge loss due to a fire breakout. However, after his demise, Ajay decided to focus mainly on his theatre business. In 1995, a Hollywood producer introduced Bijli to an Australian production house “Village Roadshow” which later came to India and led to the establishment of PVR-Priya Village Roadshow. This joint named venture inaugurated their first multiplex in India under a title PVR Anupam. Bijli has also produced numerous Bollywood movies like Taare Zameen par, Action Replay, and Jaane tu ya Jaane na. In 2017, he was awarded Asian Exhibitor of the year at CineAsia.
