Founded in 1969, Christ (Deemed To Be University) is located in Bengaluru, India. In 2008, it was declared as an institution deemed to be university under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. The University is managed by priests of the Catholic religious order, Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India conferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and recognized it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006. The University has more than 18,000 students and over 800 faculty members. In the year 2016, it was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with ‘A’ Grade. The campus reflects multiculturalism with students from different states and countries. The University offers various programs from Bachelors to Doctoral in humanities, science, commerce, management, engineering, law, and many more.
