Established in 1847 under British India, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee or IITR) is a public technical and research university located in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. It has around 22 academic departments for Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Management programs with a  major focus on scientific and technological education and research. It offers 11 undergraduate (UG), one integrated dual degree, around 60 postgraduate and various doctoral programmes.
