Dr. Gautam Allahbadia is a leading medical veteran in Mumbai, Reproductive Endocrinology and IVF, with over 25 years of expertise in Assisted Reproductive Techniques. He is heading the IVF team at MMC IVF Millennium Medical Center (www.mmcivf.com), and a consultant Reproductive Endocrinology & IVF at Bourn Hall Fertility Centre and Dr. Amal IVF Center, Dubai, UAE as well as two independent infertility clinics in Mumbai, India. These infertility clinics have been at the forefront of providing fertility treatments to couples across the globe.
Having completed his training in IVF/ICSI at the University of Gottingen, Bielefeld IVF Center and the University of Munich, Dr. Gautam Allahbadia from Mumbai was honored with the AOFOG-Young Gynecologist Award in the year 1998. He has also made major contributions in the field of medical reproduction, having more than 150 peer-reviewed publications added to his credentials. His research work made him worthy of FOGSI-CORION National Research award for best original research work in Infertility, and six research grants from renowned institutions.
Dr Allahbadia is the founder of IVF Lite (a term coined by him). The fertility treatment emphasizes on minimal stimulation, and brings effective results compared to its conventional IVF counterpart.
Dr. Gautam Allahbadia is well-known for his expertise in Ultrasound guided embryo transfers and physician-guided success in Minimal Stimulation IVF (IVF Lite), in South-East Asia. He has been actively involved in medical research, having authored 150 scientific papers, 126 book chapters and 24 textbooks, the latest of which is a comprehensive text, entitled ‘Minimal Stimulation IVF’.
He has also served as a lecturer at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College followed by a 12-year stint at the University of Mumbai affiliated Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences before shifting his interest into private practice.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gautam Allahbadia has been able to successfully treat a number of patients facing infertility issues. He focuses on comprehensive, patient-centered fertility care, and helps the patients in dealing with fertility-related afflictions, addressing all their questions and concerns.
Dr. Gautam Allahbadia has received several awards for his excellence and professional expertise. He was awarded the prestigious Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst fellowship for the year 1996 to train in Assisted Reproductive Techniques in Germany. He was also elected as the Vice President of the World Association of Reproductive Medicine (WARM) and invited as the guest speaker at over 200 congresses, workshops and scientific meetings.
In addition to being honoured with 6 awards for his research from the International College of Surgeons and the Medical Research Center of Bombay Hospital Trust, he has also been the beneficiary of more than 25 awards in the field. In 1994, he was also the recipient of the Canadian Young Scientist Fellowship Award.
In the same year, at the 42nd All India Obstetric and Gynecological Congress, Dr. Gautam Allahbadia was honoured with the most prestigious award, “FOGSI-CORION National Research prize”, for his research in the field of Infertility. In addition to this, he has also organised various International Congresses regarding the matter and was nominated as “Mumbai’s Top Doc” for the year 2012.
All through his profession, Dr. Allahbadia has been involved in developing new techniques for ensuring success in Fertility treatments and the use of Ultrasound in procedures of Embryo Transfer.
