A total of 136 firms participated to offer around 200 roles to the class 2021, as IIM Calcutta repeated its feat of 100 per cent summer placements for 56th batch of 480 of the MBA program. Exercising the ‘dream’ option, many students were able to secure multiple roles from the recruiters of their choice.
Around 43 per cent of the total offers came from finance and consulting firms. International roles were opened by many companies that included Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, etc. Other than these, some of the finance majors that actively participated in the hiring process included Brookfield, Macquarie, Gaja Capital, BPEA, Edelweiss, etc.
In the banking and finance sector, Citibank and Goldman Sachs were the largest recruiters. NIIF, Indigrid, White Oak Capital Management were some of the first timers to recruit the interns. With participation from majors like McKinsey, Bain, BCG, MasterCard, etc., consulting sector attracted the highest number of offers during IIM Calcutta placements 2021.
Continuing a strong presence in the sales & marketing and general management domain that covered around 35 per cent of the total pie, IIM Calcutta students were also of offered leadership roles by various conglomerates, such as Mahindra & Mahindra, ABG, TAS, Godrej, etc. Apart from these, Nestle, HUL, P&G, Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola, among others were some of the FMCG majors that participated in the process.
In addition, product management, operations and E-commerce sector accounted for nearly 20 per cent of the total intern recruits, witnessing a considerable increase in the number of hiring during IIM Calcutta placements 2021. Several other firms catered to a larger batch size and provided multiple options to the students. The participation from new firms also grew by around 13.33 per cent.
