Established in the year 1978, New Law College has set benchmarks of excellence in education industry and emerged as the premier institute of international excellence in the field of legal education. The college has celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 2003.
New Law college is Re-Accreditated with “A” Grade by National Assessment & Accreditation Council and was inaugurated in the year 1978 at the hands of Hon. Mr. Justice Y.V. Chandrachud the then Chief Justice of India. The foundation stone of the College building was laid down in the year 2004 at the hands of the Chief Justice of India Hon. Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the then judge Supreme Court of India. The new building of the New law college,Pune was inaugurated in the year 2005 at the hands of Hon. Mr. Justice R.C. Lahoti, the then Chief Justice of India. It has been well acknowledged for its over-all excellence in the form of various awards and accolades. The courses offered by the college include B. A. LL.B., BBA. LL.B., 3 year LL.B. and LL.M programme. The eligibility criterion for these courses is as follows:
For LL.B. / B.B.A. LL.B. – 5 year programme:
• As prescribed by Bar Council of India, Rules of Legal Education 2008, the applicant shall have passed 10+2 or an examination recognized as equivalent there to and have obtained 45% of the total marks in case of general category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC & ST applicant.
• The maximum age for seeking admission into stream of 5 years bachelor degree course in law is limited to 20 years for general category and in case of SC, ST and other backward class applicants it is limited to 22 years.
For LL.B. – 3 year programme:
• As prescribed by Bar Council of India, Rules of Legal Education 2008, the applicant shall have passed the Bachelor’s Degree in any of the faculties of any recognized university or an examination recognized as equivalent there to and have obtained 45% of the total marks in case of general category and 40% of the total marks in case of SC & ST applicant.
• The maximum age for seeking admission into stream of 3 years bachelor degree course in law is limited to 30 years for general category and in case of SC, ST and other backward class applicant it is limited to 35 years.
For LL.M – 1 / 2 year programme:
• The applicant shall have obtained LL.B. degree of any university recognized by UGC with atleast 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% for SC/ ST candidates).
