Micromax is among the highest-selling smartphone brands in India. In addition, the company has made its name in the Indian IT software market. Having spread its business to a number of countries including India, Russia, Bangladesh, and Jordan, Rajesh Agarwal’s firm was recognized as the emerging company of the year by V&D 100 Awards. Talking about the major investment of the company, it owns 100% stake in YU Televentures, which was launched in December 2014.
Rajesh Agarwal, Micromax Co-founder and Managing Director, began his career as a customer support engineer at a firm in Delhi. In order to collect a collateral of Rs 80000, he sold his Maruti 800 to establish Micromax Informatics Ltd. He believes in the success mantra of ‘Teamwork divides responsibilities and multiplies growth’. By sponsoring this visionary idea, he has taken his company to a new height while leading from the front. Over the years, his company has attracted more than Rs 400 crore of investment from Sequoia Capital, TA Associates, and Sandstone Capital.
At the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award 2010, Mr. Agarwal was one of the finalists. Along with being a market-savvy, he takes immense interest in exploring the world, games and sports, etc. The Indian entrepreneur considers Warren Buffett, the American business magnate, as his biggest inspiration. Reading and getting acquainted with the success stories of various global leaders has been his hobby and strength over the years.
Micromax was awarded the Supply Chain Initiative of the Year by FSC which was received by Rajesh Agarwal. His success in the Indian IT and smartphone sector has inspired thousands of young and aspiring minds in the country.
